I'm delighted to introduce our new web site. We have made a major overhaul to our site based largely on feedback we have been hearing from you on how we might better communicate what we are doing in the school.
We had several major goals in mind when we designed these pages. In particular we wanted to:
- present a more dynamic interface for prospective students and faculty
- highlight the great research going on in the School of Natural Sciences
- communicate upcoming events of interest to our faculty and students
- provide access to important information about the school in one place
- allow our growing body of alumni to stay in touch with us
As a result, you will see a completely new home page with different sections that highlight some of these major points. In addition, there are new pages to help out both our prospective and our current students. Another addition that we hope will be useful are new Resources web pages in most of the individual sections that provide answers to many of the most frequently asked questions we receive. You might want to visit the Staff Resources web page in particular, which contains a wealth of “how to” information.
Finally, there is the addition of this blog. I will be writing about events of interest to you on a regular basis. Some future topics include updates on Project 2020 and the Strategic Academic Focus initiative, new school or campus policies that might affect you, news of interest from the UC Regent's meetings, and other local or state events. If you have any ideas for other topics you would like for me to write about, please feel free to write to me.
As always, we welcome any feedback you have and if you have suggestions for improving these web pages, please feel free to contact anyone on our administrative team.
