Prior to the Search Close

Determining Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

• Inform AP staff when all candidate’s basic qualifications have been classified as “meets expectations”, “does not meet expectations”, or “unknown”. Note: The search cannot proceed until this step is complete.

• One week before a search closes, the Dean and Faculty Equity Advisor review the diversity report to determine whether diversity, equity and inclusion goals have been met or are likely to be met. All communication and approvals will be done by formal memos.

• If a search is falling short of its diversity, equity and inclusion goals, the Search Committee is encouraged to consult with the Faculty Equity Advisor about immediate actions that may improve the pool.

• Additional checks of each applicant pool will be made until two days before the close date. Searches that do not attract an appropriately diverse pool by that time may be extended.
