Each semester the School of Natural Sciences recognizes exceptional graduating students by presenting them with an ‘Outstanding Student Award.’
Students are nominated and selected by the faculty who oversee their major. Awardees are selected based on criteria including academic excellence, achievements in research, service to UC Merced, and community service and outreach.
The Outstanding Student Award ceremony is special because each student is introduced by their faculty mentor or department chair, who talk about their experiences working together. Many of the awardees are involved in conducting research in faculty labs and are key team members. Although we will miss them, we wish all the awardees well in the next steps of their journeys.
Last semester’s Outstanding Students were recognized at a reception on November 30th.
