Abstract:
This talk will discuss practical lessons learned from 10+ years of implementing service learning. Various techniques will be discussed requiring varying levels of funding and commitment. Besides mentioning pros & cons, specific resources, etc, I hope to give a feel for what to expect should you decide to implement service learning as part of your teaching or research (i.e. NSF Broader Impacts). Included will be a brief discussion (<4 slides) of community college teaching and how that differs from a position at a research institution.
