Ruoxi Zhao is a highly motivated and dedicated student graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematical Sciences, with emphasis in Computational and Data Science, and minor in Management Business and Economics.
Ruoxi has a keen interest in data science and machine learning methods applied in the biomedical field. She had research experience as a Research Fellow at the NSF CREST Center under the supervision of Professor Tomas Rube, where she was using statistical learning tools to study how the transcription factor binding kinetics depends on sequence. She was also a Research Assistant at the Learning Aligned Employment Program, where she classified dental cavities using color photos and Fully Convolutional Neural Networks with the guidance from Professor Roummel Marcia. Outside of her academic and research pursuits, Ruoxi was a member of the Yosemite Leadership Program cohort from 2020 to 2022, where she honed her
leadership and outdoor adventure skills. In the future, Ruoxi aims to further contribute to the
scientific community as a researcher in data science and biomedical fields
