Gurleen Kaur currently works as a research specialist in the Ge Lab at the University of California, Merced. Prior to her appointment, she worked as an undergraduate researcher in lab. Her time in research during her undergraduate studies arose through studying as a scholar through the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Center’s (UROC) summer research institute (SURI). Such studies involved working on a research project in a lab on the UC Merced campus, presenting said research as an end-of-summer symposium, and participating in workshops aimed at research education and graduate school preparation. Gurleen graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Human Biology in December of 2022 from UC Merced
