Marilyn Fogel, a geobiologist in the School of Natural Sciences has been selected as the recipient of the 2013 Alfred Treibs Award. Fogel was nominated for her numerous contributions to the fields of organic geochemistry, biogeochemistry, ecological processes, meteoritics and the archaeological sciences. The Treibs Award recognizes major achievements, over a period of years, in organic geochemistry. Fogel, who is in her second year at UC Merced, is the first woman to have received the award. The award was presented earlier this month at the IMOG2013 in the Canary Islands.
