Selecting the Final Candidate

After all interviews are complete:

  • The Search Committee discusses and ranks the candidates according to the Department’s by-laws.
  • The Search Committee prepares a short memo [A11] describing the process of and reasons for the rankings, with reference to each candidates’ impact on research, teaching and diversity, equity and inclusion goals.
  • The Department Chair sends Top Candidate Selection Memo [A11] to the Dean via email.
  • The Dean may wish to discuss the memo with the Department Chair.
  • The Department Chair contacts final candidate with a verbal offer.
  • If final candidate declines a verbal offer, then the Department Chair moves on to the second candidate.
