How to Post a Position or Request a Student Hire

Use the Student Assistant Classification Guide and Student Assistant Pay Rate Schedule 2023 to aid you in determining the proper Student Assistant Classification, job functions, and pay.

To conduct an open search, complete this Student Recruitment Webform.

To hire a student from an open search OR to hire a student without an open search, complete this Student Hire Request Webform.

Our office submits a new hire intake form with Student Employment Services. The student will be contacted to complete new hire paperwork. Please note that students may not start working until you have received the "Clear To Work Email" from Student Employment Services.

Most positions are posted within 10 business days. You will be notified if further information is needed and/or once the position has been posted.

Reviewing & Interviewing Applicants

Applicant Reviewers will receive applications from Handshake via email notification. More information about how this process works can be found here.

Review the Student Employment Policies & Procedures for recommendations on how many applicants to interview and the types of interview questions to ask each applicant.

Contact the applicants you wish to interview by clicking their email addresses as listed on their applications.

Establishing A New Employee

Meet with the new student employee prior to his or her first day of work. During the meeting, both you and the new student employee are required to sign the Job Description form.
