To determine the appropriate research level appointment, the PI must review the APMs and Salary Scales for the following Research Series:
Specialist Series: APM and Salary Scale
Project Scientist Series: APM and Salary Scale
Professional Research Series: APM and Salary Scale
- To conduct an Open Search, the PI creates a job description using one of the following position description templates, as appropriate:
- PI uses the job description created to submit a request through the Researcher Recruitment Online Request Form. Once SNS Personnel receives the request, a recruitment will be created and the approval process will follow.
- Recruitment Waiver: If the PI already has a candidate in mind, a Recruitment Waiver may be requested. (Note: Waivers for research titles are only approved under limiited circumstances. Refer to the Search Waiver Categories for details, or contact Stephanie Lopez (sgarcia262@ucmerced.edu) for more information.
- Once the search is approved, the posting will be available on AP Recruit, Higher Education Recruitment Consortium (HERC) and America’s Job Exchange (AJE).
- The recruitment must be posted for at least 30 days before the Search Chair/Committee may contact applicants for interviews.
